Per the Indian arts and crafts board I must state the following: Friends, you are viewing an Authentic Swampfox Creation carrying the Swampfox trademark & I am the sole maker of these flutes and totems. From the time I was 7 years old I knew I would build the flutes. They are Native Inspired thru my Grandmother's people of the Muskogee Creek Nation, but more than that, they are inspired thru the Great Creator of all living things. Many times as I stand before the wood, I have no idea what the flute nor its totem will turn out to be. Sometimes in life we must ask in earnest prayer for the answers, even to the smallest of things. As I pray for Creator's wisdom and not my own, it becomes clear in my mind what is meant for these flutes, and it is a powerful presence when this Creator's wisdom moves. If it is important for you to purchase a flute from an enrolled tribal member, it is my prayer that you find this flute you are seeking. Remember, according to the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, {an act in place to protect the consumer from purchasing items that are not 100% AUTHENTIC NATIVE AMERICAN MADE}, should even the slightest part of an instrument, or craft be created by a Non-Indian person, the instrument / craft CANNOT Legally be sold as "Native American made", including ANY art work in any shape, form, or fashion. For a first criminal offense, an individual is fined not more than $250,000 and/or jailed not more than 5 years; subsequent violations are not more than $1,000,000 and/or 15 years. Good night!!!!!! A person could make a lot of flutes in 5 years!!! :))

Many animals are moving during this time - Weather is changing!

At four o'clock in the morning the Great Horned Owls began hooting and making their weird calls in a distant marsh. Sometimes they can sound just like a monkey!!! It is an eerie haunting sound to say the least, but I cannot get enough of their singing, and many times I will hoot right back to them!

This gathering of owls has now brought this flute into the world. It is one of a kind and there are no other Swampfox flutes like it anywhere.

The Owl represents Long life and wisdom. They are intelligent, patient, and can tolerate the worst weather.
To the native people, the owl is the totem of clairvoyants & mystics.

It is said they carried the souls of the Ancient Ones - Keepers of the Night.

Among us lives a creature which exists in the night. It is feared by most animals, and with very good reason! Around here, we call it "The Tiger of the Woods." It is said that the Great Horned Owl is the largest owl in North America! With it's keen sense of sight, acute sense of hearing, and fur-like deadly silent feathers of camoflauge, nothing is safe in the night when this Ultimate Predator is on the prowl!!!

They have been known to take young alligators, domestic cats, woodchucks, geese, Great Blue Herons, rabbits, birds, fish, amphibians, and anything else that it wants to eat! There have been reports of Great Horned Owls taking Red Tailed Hawks, and they will eat anything from crayfish to young foxes, sometimes taking prey 2 to 3 times heavier than itself. Once one here in the South walked into a chicken coop and had itself a chicken sandwich! :)))

Some natives call them the Night Eagle who sits in the East, the place of illumination on the Medicine Wheel. Many two-leggeds have been afraid of the night, the dark - in other words, the unknown. But the night is a friend to the owl. In days of old the creature was powerful medicine for people of integrity, courage, leadership, wisdom, honour, respect, and most of all, Love.

The old adage 'wise as an owl' is very true. They see and hear everything! They choose to see and know what is out there in a good way.

Owls were the totems of mystics, medicine and spiritual leaders! Much of their way of life is still unknown even today.

Should you be the Keeper, in this flute you will carry a part of my soul, my spirit. Three flutes could have been created in this one flute's time. It will never let you down and my word is my life.

I build for those who went before us, for those yet to come, and for those who cannot play, I play for you!

I am Swampfox.
